The WISC/ Sharks Recreational League program participates in the WISC Youth Recreational League. At the core of this program is the WISC Recreational format. No team scores or league standings are tracked. Removing these two metrics from the league allows the entire focus of the program to shift from "team performance" over to individual player achievement and advancement. Each coach is expected to strive for equal playing time for all players independent of skill level.

Advanced players participating in this program will be expected to improve their individual abilities with the ball, and develop their leadership skills on the field.

The "equal playing time" goal provides less experienced players the opportunity to maximize their playing time, giving them the best opportunity to turn "techniques" learned on the practice field into "skills" applied in a live game environment.

The league currently represents close to 500 local players with the majority based out of Williamsburg. The volunteer coaches are provided support by the Sharks travel staff with online resources on the website. All teams train once a week between Monday and Thursday and all games are on Saturday morning, on the Warhill grass fields.

Our competitive advantage over other local recreational leagues is that we adhere to special requests for team mates and coaches. We understand the importance of playing with your friends and we do all we can to make this happen. In addition, we provide teams a unique color game shirt so there are never any uniform conflicts on game day.

Teams are formed using the age divisions; 4-5, 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 and 12- 14 years. The league teams are all co-ed.

There are no tryouts for the WISC/ Sharks rec league. The Tidewater Sharks staff enjoy coming out to watch the rec soccer and this is the primary place to scout for future travel players. Sharks travel players often begin playing in the WISC/Sharks Rec Soccer league.
